Hello, I'm new to this board. I'm a high school student and I participate in a competition called the Academic Decathlon. This is a competiton that has 10 events and is recognized as the most prestigeous academic competition in the United States. Each year, 35000 of the most intelligent high school students compete on local, regional and state levels to try to become one of the top 350 students and face the others in a national competition. Competitors must prepare all year long for 10 events, and Social Science is one of them. The Social Science curriculum changes every year. 2 years ago, it was Africa. Last year it was the 1980's, with special focus on US Domestic Affairs. This year it is ancient civilizations. 26% of the Social Sciences study is Egypt.
I am looking for the following information about Egypt:
-Geography, Climate, and Physical Features -Historical Periods: Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom -Religion -Society and Culture
I know a little bit about each of these, but I am looking for more detailed information. I'm sure you could write books on any and all of those topics. I am looking for any help whatsoever. Internet links, just an E-mail about some of those topics, anything.
On a more personal note, I have been lucky to be a part of my school's decathlon team for 2 years, and both of those years we have captured the state championship and we have gotten to go to nationals, where I was lucky enough to get 2nd place in the nation in mathematics, and 13th place in the nation in social sciences.
Thank you, Derek Williams
